I am an assistant professor of Political Science at Colorado State University. I study the politics of dominant group identities with a focus on American politics. I am especially interested in the causes and effects of political allyship — that is, when members of dominant groups engage in political action in support of marginalized groups. Much of my current research examines the case of white Democratic voters' growing support for politicians of color.

I hold a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.Sc. in Politics Research from the University of Oxford, and a B.A. in Political Science and Law, Societies and Justice from the University of Washington.

Outside of work, I enjoy running (currently training for the CSU Homecoming 5k), bouldering (badly but enthusiastically!), knitting (also badly!), and reading (recent favorites include Headshot by Rita Bullwinkel and The Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich).
